Jacob Schlichter, also known as Jacob The Fox, is a Minnesota entrepreneur, photographer, and fashion designer based in Albert Lea. He owns several businesses that operate from Minnesota, and he has designed and produced merchandise and apparel for hundreds of brands, from multi-billion dollar global companies to Tommy Chong, whose international brand he served as apparel head for.
Jacob was 12 years old when he started selling his graphic designs online. In high school he moved into gaming server management and investing, and later into videography and photography.
Photography
Jacob has been a professional photographer since 2014. His focus is nature and scenic, astro, concert and festival, and urban photography, and he has received artist grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and SEMAC. His work has been exhibited in galleries across Minnesota and the region. He shoots on Sony mirrorless cameras with lenses ranging from a 35mm prime to an 840mm telephoto and a macro, and his video work is done on the same Sony or on various other cameras.
Fashion and Design
Jacob designs apparel for people, artists, events, and brands around the world, and he continues to partner with dozens of brands as a designer, supplier, and creator. He welcomes collaboration ideas.
Cannabis and Advocacy
In 2025, Jacob became the first state-licensed cannabis retailer in Minnesota, and the Minnesota Court of Appeals later ruled unanimously in his favor when his registration was challenged. In 2023, he stood beside Governor Tim Walz and Governor Jesse Ventura at the ceremonial signing of HF 100, which legalized cannabis in Minnesota. He also hosts a small educational YouTube talk show.

Jacob Schlichter has been featured by the Star Tribune and Minnesota Public Radio, and on NBC, CBS, ABC, FOX, and PBS stations across Minnesota, including KTTC, KIMT, KAAL, FOX 9, and KSMQ. The coverage spans his photography, fashion design, and work in Minnesota’s cannabis industry, and it is ongoing.
Off the Clock
You’ll usually find Jacob in a field in the middle of the night, photographing the Milky Way. Astronomy has been a lifelong passion, and he has spent the last several years honing his astrophotography, though he wishes the moon would stop ruining his shots. His free time goes to friends, gaming, hiking, and cleaning up the environment.
